The Fallen Angel’s Clutches

How does it feel to be damned,

What does it look like

when your body and soul

are dragged to hell?

The devil’s

greedy hands clamped

around your torso,

your limp, helpless

body is wrenched from earth

for eternity.

Just before you are ripped

to the underworld

your eyes become

barren and spiritless

like the deer’s when she is lugged

back by the victorious hunter.

You can still feel 

the hand of God,

relentless and righteous,

trying to save one of his misguided children

from Satan’s unholy grip.

There is no time left for repentance.

The judgement is final.

And the damned cannot be saved.
